The Clan itself is heavily connected to the coast, and believes that they are there to protect the wellbeing of not just their Clan but all due to every single life needing water to survive. The coast connects them all, forcing them all in-land despite Eirmuirians entering the water daily with the help of Seals Breath to be beneath the waves. Eirmuir believes they live in the Waking Realm, where the gods are detached from and where they thrive to be united as one collective Clan. They seek their dreams for answers from the gods, to learn how to protect the land, the ocean and those who live in each.
While Eirmuir has a strong belief and connection to the dreaming realm - religion is not a forced concept despite there being proof of their existence. A Clan Member who is not a believer, is no less worthy of being a part of the Clan as those with faith. If one finds themselves more attuned with the earth, than that of gods and deities, then that is their path to follow.
The Aspects and Gods are revered, treated by as Living members of the Clan themselves.
Belief System of Eirmuirians:
The ocean is the great provider. Eirmuirians Valleyfolk hearken to the sea and dislike being land-bound.
They have been instructed to take care of the water, the ocean and otherwise.
A prevailing belief is that Eirmurians originally came from the ocean.
The ocean is to not be disrespected by dumping dead animals into it, spoiling the water or blocking waterways, preventing the spirits from travelling freely.
Though the Clan believes that they are connected to seals, the belief of Eirmuirians becoming seals after death is merely a myth. A kin-tale, to further continued connection amongst the Clan.
Gender and Sexuality hold no importance within Eirmuir, Valleyfolk are not treated differently with regards to either account. Any words of ill will not be taken kindly in Eirmuir.
While hunting of winged creatures is allowed, most with Wing-Hooks often do not participate in the hunting of the winged as it feels disrespectful to their feathered ally - unless their Wing Hook is carnivorous.
Those who are here are connected deeply to Eirmuir having been with the Clan since the dawn of its creation, the aspects may be connected to other factions but may have different tales wrote about them.
The information here is the tales that Eirmuir believes to be the true lore behind them, which has been shared from generation to the next since the beginning. Formed to fit what the Clan is all about, naturally some details have been potentially warped overtime as all tales go. The information here will go into further depth about each god than you will find on the Aspect and Gods page which is information readily available to all Factions.
It's recommended to check out the further lore about the Aspects, which you can find linked below!
She/Her | Aspect of Dreams and Nightmares
Musical Theme: Moonlight Guide Us - Artemis Solo, Hades 2 Extended
Estis is one of the youngest aspects, though she did not take part directly in the Aspect Wars due to her 'infancy state' - she very much witnessed its downfall. In turn, due to the creation of Corvus from darkness hides in the Spirit Realm and is trapped from her followers due to his vengeful watching eyes.
Estis was overthrown by Corvus, the fractured aspect who now reigns in their place. Having taken over the mantle of the Aspect for Dreams and Nightmares, Estis often finds themselves battling the corruptor to reach the mind of dreamers. Her messages to the living, often meant to help guide them to understand their destinies. Estis was not overly active in the Aspect War, considered a newborn but a supporter of Ferus and Kairos, being eyes in the background for the pair.
Often resembles a softly pale glowing fox-like beast in dreams, though warm and inviting, an air of anxiety laces her interactions with the living. Often flocked by birds, her messagers.
Though Essos began to destroy the Valley, and ultimately was slain, soft eerie singing can be heard when one unknowingly nears Essos’ grave. Said to be Estis, watching over the deceased Aspects' grounds.
It is said that Estis misses being able to linger in the awoken world, so she dream-hops to see what the living have experienced.
They/Them | Aspect of Spirits
Musical Theme: Gaunter O’ Dim - Witcher 3
Due to the importance of Spirits in Eirmuirs' culture, the knowledge of Corvus is simply known to the Clan due to stories passed down about this Aspect. But they do not Worship the being, due to what they are. Corvus is one of the newest Aspects, however they are not commonly known throughout the Valley due to how they rose upon their 'throne'. They are considered quite frankly to be that of a False Aspect, formed from chaos, disaster and despair - this being, has no true right to call themselves an Aspect as they truly do not care about inhabitants of the Valley.
They cropped up as an Aspect after the death of Essos, feasting on what chaos was formed from the Aspect War.
It is known that through great fighting, cruelty and manipulation - Corvus dethroned Estis, the 'infant' Aspect and took her spot as the Aspect of Spirits and since this has been hounding the Aspect of Dreams and Nightmares. But is unable to locate her in the Spiritual Realms due to her prior knowledge of Spirits, and the realms hiding places. The only downside of this, is like Estis, they cannot escape the realm they are trapped in due to the connections with the physical or 'waking realm' being severed.
Unlike most Aspects, what the Eirmuirians know of Corvus is that they have no physical body. What they are known to loosely represent in the 'form of' is a cluster of eyes that watch over the living unfortunate to have been found if Corvus finds pockets of the Dreaming Realm to torment.
She/Her | Goddess of Fauna and Flora
Musical Theme: Dzivia - Flower Maiden
Moher is said to be the motherly figure of Eirmuir. After the Aspect war, the Goddess fell from the heavens within a shooting star and crashed into Eirmuir's Isle. The impact spot brought immediate relief to the torn land, though the scars the war left upon the terrain are easily noticeable if one opens their eyes wide enough. The crater left from her impact, is a deep pit full of flowers where in the middle, is a golden glowing flower. The surrounding land is deep within the forest near Moher's watch. The first Eirmuirians to have seen the goddess, said that she was a beacon of golden light that glimmered so intensely one could not look directly at her. She is known to take the form of a large canid beast, not quite Valleyfolk but similar. With the size of a great pine tree, it is hard to miss her when she walks at the edge of the coastline.
It is well known, that Moher is not the only protector of Fauna and Flora, but the main protector of Eirmuirians creatures and plants. She is a caring, motherly figure that brings her nurturing touch to the Clans land. As well, Moher brings storms to harbor, settling their damage as well as soothing wildfires. Her love is not just connected to mammals, but to the smallest flower beneath her watchful gaze. It is often said that she can be summoned within dreams, by prayer or simply will appear if someone is in need of comfort.
Unlike Cyaroeth, her presence is said to bring extreme warmth and ease to those in her reach. In the silence, when one is sat atop of Moher's watch, there is said to be soft humming in tune of a song that only the heart knows.
She/Her | God of the Hunt & War
Status: Alive
Musical Theme: Bloodborne DLC OST - Ludwig, the Holy Blade
Namaeyn once was the violent and ruthless Goddess of War, whom the members of Eirmuir invoked before heading into battle. It was said that her favour would aid them in the fight, taking down their enemies. Being that Eirmuir has not been at war in recent years, her thirst for blood is sated by changing her focus to also participate that of the Hunt.
It is said that her hunts in the Eternal Hunt are why the sky turns red when the sun is setting, that it is a sign of her own victories in the beyond.
Valleyfolk who have reported being in her presence, feel immense rage burning through their very core. They may have fallen into an easy slumber, but her energy is that of rage and the very fire of anger. She is said to have no emotion, but influences Valleyfolk to carry out the anger that burns in their hearts.
He/Him | Harbinger of Death
Status: Alive
Musical Theme: Bloodborne DLC OST - Ludwig, the Holy Blade
Cyaroeth has the form of a skeletal canid, covered in dead drapes of seaweed and bog dirt, who appears to those facing imminent death.
Cyaroeth is considered a truly neutral god, one who simply performs his duty of heralding the death of a wolf and feels no compassion or mercy towards those who are doomed unlike Aurora. Unlike his counterpart, Cyaroeth gives off no warmth if anything it is the opposite. Those who have felt his haunting presence, have reported that the temperature seems to drop as though Winter is encasing their very soul.
Cyaroeth is connected to the Fade, also known as the Abyss, as he tends to the unruly deceased and false deities who have proven that they were only created to cause problems.
She/Her | Goddess, Protector of Spirits & Dead
Status: Alive
Musical Theme: Stella's Departure - Max LL
Unlike her counterpart, Cyaroeth, there is true love and care for the dead and lost spirits in Auroras warmth. When ones beloved family die, or even if one is simply close to another as they pass - if their spirit was good, there is sense of burning warmth that while cannot soothe grief eases the nerves of the living. To many, the long stretch of dancing lights that grace the skies often only witnessed in Winter - are nothing more than that.
But for the Eirmuirians, its their protective Goddess Aurora who helps guide spirits to the Eternal. The reason for the display of lights is her guiding off danger from grasping at the death, protecting them in their final journey. It is believed that she was formed after the Aspect War, when many wandering spirits who splintered off needed guidance as they no longer had any home and were lost.
To Valleyfolk who are dying, often in their last moments they speak of a creature of warm blue light shaped in the form of a winged doe with three eyes resting beside them. Her touch while cold as ice, has warmth to it guiding the dying to release their spirit to be protected by her.
Valleyfolk who have lost a loved one have often spotted a doe who does not flee in their presence, her fur is pure black - often to represent death, and she does not seem to hold any fear towards the Valleyfolk before making her way through fields or forests. Until she is left as a memory, which leaves many to believe that she is Aurora visiting the living to let them know their loved one has finally made it to the Eternal.
She/Her | Deity
Status: Alive
Musical Theme: Hades - Lament of Orpheus (Eurydice Solo feat. Ashley Barrett)
While it is unclear where The Lady of the Lake came from, but it is not hard to gather what she is connected to. It is said, when the heavens rain on storming days - The Lady appears in form of something akin to a fox crossed with an owl. Her face is sharp, eyes all white with a copper hue to her spectre as she is not that of a solid physical form. Atop of this, it is believed that she often graces those both in good and to be playful. Though being that of a trickster, often hiding prey from hunts or using the winds to trip unsuspecting Valleyfolk- she will not allow harm to come upon them.
She has been known to protect those crossing frozen water sources, ensuring their safe journey but this does not mean her presence is comforting. Often, Valleyfolk feel their fur prickle and stand on edge even if she is not visible. A soft eerie whispering breeze surrounds them, even if there is no wind - it is the Lady making herself be known to the Eirmuirians.
Valleyfolk feel their fur prickle and stand on edge, though there is no visible threat nearby. Most reason it being down to walking across the ice, but others dare it to be that Lady of the Lake making herself known. Often no one will seek her out, but it is believed she seeks the lost souls out herself and listens to their woes. Whether she is there to help, is down to that Valleyfolk themself.
He/Him | Ocean Deity
Status: Alive
Musical Theme: Theme - [Song of the Sea - Cartoon Saloon
It is known that Pook came to be, when a pup drowned many generations ago. Moher was said to have taken great pity on the young soul, being that he was not able to live any form of life before the Eternal unrightfully called for him. Pook is not a god, but a peaceful deity that lives within the Ocean.
Unlike his counterparts, Pook dwells within the ocean. His form, that of a pale white seal pup often finding comfort within the kelp forest beneath the rippling tides of Eirmuirs coast. Being that he was a pup, he is very youthful and playful when he interacts with the Clan. It is noticed that he often appears more frequently when new life is born into Eirmuir, wanting to seek out others to play with.
Ontop of being playful, Pook is one who will guide others from the raging waves if one is unfortunate to have fallen into the anger waters aiding them back to the shore for safety. However it has been noted that since the return of great seabeast Shatterfang, Pook remains within the kelp forests - fearful.
Pooks presence is comforting, with pup-joy even if one was close to death though many always find they feel brief sadness when parting the ocean. While Pook wishes for all to survive that find themselves trapped in the raging sea, it is clear that the young Deity is lonesome and misses being apart of the Clan. Even if he died, generations ago and it is clear that the presence of the Clan seeking him out brings joy.
These spaces are unique to Eirmuir, there will be other places that reflect this but what they are known as here are unique to the Clan.
This Realm has two known names within Eirmuir, the Dreaming Realm and Nightmare Realm though most call it simply the Dreamers Realm.
It is not to be mistaken, though it is called the Dreamers Realm one will not just commonly find themselves 'awoken' in this place. With its given name, it is a realm detached from the physical realm (which in Eirmuir also is known as the Waking Realm). This space is governed by that of the Dream Aspect, Estis. Her intentions of bringing the Dreamer into these realms is not to harm them, her intent is of pureness, to help guide them through their struggles by manifesting what they are feeling even if what is shown can be both pleasant or horrifying.
Truly, Estis only reaches out to those who are in need of what she deems is assistance. So one can hope that if they 'awaken' in this realm, that what lays ahead of them is good. In the Dreamers Realm, they often have the 'ability' to interact with memories. In these instances, it is also considered that Estis is allowing them to relive these situations to further understand what they need to do next time or to learn from this interaction.
There are three spectral being, that take the form of shining light or darkness in the Dreamers Realm, simply referred to as The Three - is is unknown what they are, but is unlikely that they are spirits but manifestations of dreams themselves. They often help guide one if Estis is unable to assist due to Corvus being near her, they help if ones mind is in dire need of direction or if the dreamer is close to the end of life.
The realm in which spirits linger, the haunting grounds of the Aspect of Spirits.
Though there are many factions across the Valley in which know this realm exists, the Eirmuirians, being connected to death have a high connection with it. It was once the case that the Clan could venture into the Spiritual Realm, but it currently is not the case. Though, they can interact with Spirits trapped within the Stone Circles however it is known that this is at their own risk, and the Ard-Ri heavily condemns the idea of doing so.
The Clan has been heavily connected to Spirits since its creation, though the dead move onto the Eternal - there are said to be spirits still roaming within Eirmuirs borders. These are gentle spirits, being that the Ogham Stones protect the Clan from danger - nothing can harm them, and they are not of any danger to those present in the Clan. The Clan greatly respects the dead, this can be noted across the territory in how the stones are respected both for the good and morally corrupt spirits in their borders. Whether contained by the stone circles or not, they have a place in Eirmuirs culture.
The Spirit realm
This is Eirmuirians' version of The Eternity formed over generations.
The Eternal, the resting place of all those who partake in their final fight with life whether it be in battle, lost to illness or from old age. The Eternal Hunt calls for them, a song that they cannot and would not resist to answer. Those who had sworn their honour again and again, are given the greatest boon of all - to fight alongside their gods, and their aspects.
The stars are where the Eternal Hunt is deemed to be, far above where no one can reach it but where it is known.
When a shooting star falls, it means someone has fallen in their final fight and is returning to the ocean to start anew as a seal. But returning as seals is considered simply a part of the Clans' tale, no one truly believes that their fallen comrades are now the seals Eirmuir feasts on.
It is known that the Eternal, is the place where the Eternal Hunt takes place. It is that of a victorious, consuming never-ending battle with the gods, such as Nemaeyn and Cyaroeth who partake in it. The Eternal Hunt itself it said to be land mixed both of golden grass and crashing seas, where youth is reborn into the bones of all and joy awaits them.
This is the Eirmuirians' version of The Abyss.
This place is where pure darkness prevails, those who have truly lose their way in life end up in this ghoulish cold realm. Those who have touched death, felt by the Whisper, say that cold darkness clings to them in this space. In the Fade, the land of disgraced gods, deities and spirits are told to linger, screaming into the darkness where their stories fade into nothingness. No one is there to remember them.
The Fade is broken into twisted, tangled envisions of nightly horror. There is faint light, but in the darkness horrors awake to claim the wandering spirits who awaken in this realm. The broken who lay here, often attempt to reach out to the living in hopes of being reborn through them by claiming their soul. Those in the Fade, are left to live out their sin in death and darkness.
Unless one steps into stone circles in the physical realm, those in the Fade cannot touch them.
